IGNOU Launches BA Home Science Under FYUP for July 2025

In a significant move towards expanding its academic offerings, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has introduced a new Bachelor of Arts (BA) program in Home Science under the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) for the July 2025 admission cycle. This initiative is part of IGNOU’s commitment to offering flexible and career-oriented education aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The new BA Home Science program is a comprehensive and multidisciplinary undergraduate course designed to provide students with knowledge and practical skills related to family resource management, food and nutrition, child development, and textile and apparel design. Learners choose this program when they want to build careers in teaching, counseling, health, and nutrition, or when they plan to start their own ventures.

As per the official announcement, the duration of the BA Home Science program is four years, in line with the FYUP model. However, students have the flexibility to exit with a bachelor’s degree at the end of the third year, as per the NEP guidelines. The total fee for the program is INR 18,300, making it an affordable option for students across India.

Students who have passed Class 12 from a recognized board are eligible to apply. IGNOU Admissions 2025 are open for the July session through the official IGNOU Samarth portal. Prospective students can visit ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in to apply online and learn more about the course structure.
