New Delhi, 30 June 2025: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is launching five completely free and online courses on the SWAYAM platform, aimed at computer science and artificial intelligence experts. IGNOU has designed these courses to be accessible from home, without charging any fee or requiring complicated admission processes. From 5 Free AI & Computer courses, 4 courses focused on computer applications and systems, and 1 on artificial intelligence using Prolog programming. Each program runs for 6 to 12 weeks and starts on 15 July 2025. Registration opens the same day and closes on 15 September 2025, and enrollment is expected by 15 November 2025.
The first course is Computer Application in Business, offered at the undergraduate level and delivered in English over 12 weeks. It covers essential digital workplace tools, including Google Workspace, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, basic web applications, and more, spread across twenty units.
Next is a diploma-level, 6-week course on CAD/CAM (Computer-Aided Design & Manufacturing) also in English. It guides students through the fundamentals of CAD design and both 2D and 3D modeling techniques.
Then comes Fundamentals of Computer Systems, another 12-week undergraduate course in English. It carries four credits and explores hardware, software, networking, communication, and information security. Students complete the course by appearing in an IGNOU admission 2025 assessment and earn certificates via SWAYAM.
The fourth, Fundamentals in Computer in Manufacturing, is a diploma‑level course in Hindi that lasts 12 weeks. It plays the role of computers in modern manufacturing processes.
The AI-focused course is Artificial Intelligence using Prolog Programming, a diploma-level, four-credit program that will begin on 15 July 2025. It introduces participants to intelligent machines and systems, along with essential AI concepts and techniques taught via Prolog.
